The seven characters map Monday through Sunday: Monday Dadong, Tuesday Dadong, Wednesday Wusheng, Thursday Garden, Friday Dadong, Saturday Wusheng, Sunday Garden. In other words: Dadong Night Market opens Mon/Tue/Fri, Wusheng opens Wed/Sat, and Garden opens Thu/Sat/Sun.
Sharp readers will spot the mismatch: the rhyme’s Saturday slot says only “Wusheng”, yet Garden’s schedule clearly includes Saturday. Correct — one character can only hold one market, and on Saturdays both Wusheng and Garden are open. This is the rhyme’s biggest trap for out-of-towners. For the record: if you want Garden on a Saturday, go. It’s open.
The market itself: scale and route
Garden Night Market sits in North District around Haian Road Section 3 and Hewei Road — Tainan’s largest roaming night market, with hundreds of stalls across food, games and goods. Field advice from this desk: 6:30pm right at opening is the loosest hour; 8 to 9:30pm is peak crush, and Saturdays run fuller than Thursdays. Hit the queue-famous stalls within the first hour, and walk the main aisle once before doubling back — far more efficient than queueing as you wander.
